Sunny eyes and gleaming teeth
warm the still empty space in my room.
Even in the middle of the night
I hear the rumbling from his belly deep
almost mimicking the panting laughter
of a younger me

By the rhythm of his heavy breath
I could tell it’s my window to sleep
not minding to see the languid sun
yet another day

Through the years, he saw my heart
wax and wane, we grew day by day
until somebody else swept me away
while he slept alone, just waiting
guarding my very room the only way
he knew how to wait for me

This year, I did come home to stay
rounded my whole world with you
almost fulfilling our brotherly bond:
you would never have to wait for me
ever again.
