I Am The Sea

I am the sea
and you are the cold night
you blanket me with awe
and lull me to sleep.

I am the sea
and you are the little drops of water
that make up my entirety
and I am alive.

I am the sea
and you are the wind—
you push me away
and I resist
you stir me into waves
and I lose control
as I unleash bursts
of unceasing grief
to retrieve my sanity.

I am the sea
after the storm,
catching my breath,
drowning your name
deeper and deeper
until I finally consume you
and forget.
